Biscayne Landing to be Catalyst for Building of Olympic Training Complex

As
part of an agreement with the City of North Miami,
the firm that's developing Biscayne Landing, Boca
Developers, has agreed to build a 90,000 square foot
Olympic training complex that could cost $9 million
- $15 million.
The
facility will be located on the site of the current
North Miami Library. A new library in a location not
yet determined will eventually replace the one unseated
by the Olympic facility. It too will be built by Boca
Developers.
The
venue will be designed for the training of Olympic
combative sports such as wrestling, boxing, karate,
judo and fencing.
Supporters
of the Olympic facility say it will bring tremendous
recreational opportunities to the community. It will
also help to increase sports awareness among youth
in the City of North Miami.
While
the Olympic training facility will not be located
within Biscayne Landing, it is a part of the master
plan crafted to obtain city approval for the development
of Biscayne Landing. Details such as when the complex
will be built and exactly what it will include are
still to be determined.
